There are thousands of Australians for whom mRNA vaccines are medically contraindicated and inaccessible, many of us having been excluded from vaccination for more than 18 months. More than 2200 Australians signed our petition seeking access to a full portfolio of updated COVID-19 vaccines, including Novavax, as promised by the federal government.
A winter wave is surging, driven by a new variant, NB.1.8.1 and Australia has a credit for 3 million Novavax doses "without requiring additional cash payments".
Biocelect (Novavax Australian sponsor) is on record as wanting to "supply in time for the Australian 2025 winter" while the Health Department has said publicly that "the Australian Government intends to make an updated Novavax COVID-19 vaccine available to eligible individuals as soon as possible following regulatory approval".
It's time to ask your local representative to advocate on your behalf to the Health Minister and obtain urgent, equitable access to medically tolerated Covid vaccine protection for you.
